“Equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”
–Ephesians 4:12

Christian Education and Formation

Our Episcopal theology is rooted in Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. We are committed to honoring this heritage by including these tools in our Christian faith formation. In our baptism, we are called to “continue in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in the prayers” (BCP 304). By gathering together in study and fellowship, we are better equipped to “carry out Christ’s mission to all people” (BCP 854).

Teaching-300x225Adult Christian Education
Adult classes meet after worship in the library on the main level. We have a variety of studies and guest speakers throughout the year. A separate schedule is given out in the beginning of the program year.

Children’s Sunday School
Each Sunday there is Christian Formation for children grades K-6.  We are currently using the Episcopal curriculum of Weaving God’s Promises. The Christian Education Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of each month for planning and discussion.

Nursery
Our nursery is located in the lower level across from the elevator and stairs. Our children’s safety is our priority, so there are always two people in the nursery according to Safe Church practice. Parents of nursery age children are encouraged to join the rotation of volunteers.

Youth
Teens are encouraged to worship in the community on Sunday mornings. Some teens feel called to help with the Children’s Formation program and are welcome to do so by contacting Lynne Whitacre.

When needed, we participate in a Confirmation program (10th grade and up) in cooperation with St. Alban’s, St. George’s, and St. Nicholas Episcopal churches. Confirmation with the Bishop occurs once every spring. In addition to this, our youth meet fairly regularly together for coffee and fellowship with the Rector.
