According to A Dictionary for Episcopalians, “The Vestry is the legal government and decision-making body of a parish church, consisting of the Rector/Priest-in-Charge and elected lay representatives. Its duties include calling the Rector, approving the budget, making policy, and approving expenditures.”
Members in good standing who are giving, working, and praying for the Kingdom of God are eligible for election to the Vestry. Nominations are approved by a vote at the Annual Meeting in late January.
